All California Young People in Alcoholics Anonymous, or ACYPAA, is an organization within Alcoholics Anonymous that many young people in Orange County AA gravitate towards when they enter addiction treatment in Orange County and other parts of California. The organization holds regular events for young people in addiction recovery, which hundreds and sometimes thousands attend. ACYPAA dances are some of the most fun in addiction recovery.

Finding the Right Young People in AA Organization For You

In ACYPAA young people, sometimes as young as 12 years old, find fellowship and comradery that help them feel secure and happy about their recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. The ACYPAA events helped me stay sober when I was early in my recovery and much younger of course. The dances and conventions were some of the most fun I’ve ever had, drunk or sober. For example, on New Year’s Eve, a night when many alcoholics and drug addicts find it hard to cope with not being able to drink alcohol, ACYPAA holds a huge New Year’s Eve Sober Rave of sorts, that attracts hundreds of people in the Orange County, California recovery community. Old and young alike attend the annual event. This year the New Year’s Eve ACYPAA event is being held at the Orange County Fairgrounds-One of its largest venues in years.

At Northbound we encourage young people to get involved in ACYPAA. We encourage them to attend the dances and conventions. Some of our clients end up becoming officers or promoters within ACYPAA, which helps them feel connected to Alcoholics Anonymous and the recovery community in Orange County. Many addiction treatment facilities in Orange County also send their younger clients to the New Year’s Eve Event. What I have found is that when young people in addiction treatment discover that they can have fun in sobriety without drinking or using drugs the light suddenly comes on and their fear of not ever being able to have fun sober begins to dissipate. It is an amazing phenomenon. We believe that all our clients need to learn how to have fun in sobriety. It is one of the most important things a person can learn in their recovery. When I learned I could go out and dance, socialize, and have more fun without drinking and using drugs it was a great awakening for me.

Sometimes finding the right AA meeting to connect with other young people in AA can be tough, but it is important that you do not get discouraged during this process, as it can quickly become frustrating and might begin making you feel like it is not worth it. Trying out a few local meetings to weigh your options before settling with one particular meeting can help ensure that you have found your fit. We want to help you broaden your options and give you the opportunity to get the best, personalized care for your condition.
