Sorting through the details of your health insurance policy isn’t always easy. Healthcare seems to be constantly changing with regard to in-network providers, essential care services, co-pays, and deductibles. Plus, if you switch to a different insurance plan, you have to start from the beginning with figuring out your health coverage. At Northbound Treatment, we believe that worrying about how you’ll pay for rehab should be furthest from your mind when you begin your journey.

Are you or a loved one struggling with substance abuse disorder, addiction, or alcoholism? If so, landing on this page is a vital first step of getting sober, and we’re happy you’re here. There’s no better time than right now to start on the path to recovery, and fretting about your insurance benefits shouldn’t delay your treatment.
The team at Northbound is here to walk you through what may or may not be covered by your healthcare policy. Here, we’ll go over Employers Health Network rehab coverage for detox, inpatient and outpatient rehab services, and mental health treatment.

EHN Insurance for Drug and Alcohol Treatment

Employers Health Network (EHN) provides high-quality, customizable health insurance and pharmacy benefits for employers to offer their employees and their dependents. Among many other healthcare services, EHN insurance includes benefits for drug and alcohol treatment.

When you access EHN’s online portal, you should be able to review the details of your individual policy in terms of addiction treatment. You can also search for providers, facilities, and services covered under your health insurance plan to get an idea of your options.

If you’re having a hard time finding the information you’re looking for, reach out to a representative from Employers Health Network or contact us at Northbound Treatment. Our seasoned insurance specialists can help you determine exactly what your health plan covers and answer any other questions you have.

Helping You Navigate Your EHN Insurance Policy

Northbound accepts all major health insurance plans, including Employers Health Network, for our treatment centers in Orange County. Insurance policies often include confusing and complicated language, which makes it hard to figure out what your benefits include — especially for a category of care you haven’t had before, like drug and alcohol treatment. As part of our commitment to supporting our clients at every stage of recovery, we’re here to help you navigate your insurance plan and find an affordable treatment option that suits your needs.

EHN Policy Coverage for Substance Abuse

EHN is a leading health insurance network that offers a wide range of comprehensive services to members. Substance abuse treatment is classified as behavioral healthcare, which is considered essential care. Also, treatment for substance abuse may involve a number of different rehab programs or services, such as partial hospitalization, detoxification, clinical assessments, diagnoses, drug tests, and other lab work necessary for recovery.

Most likely, your EHN benefits include health coverage for medication-assisted treatment, dual diagnosis (or co-occurring disorders) treatment, family support therapy, and aftercare programs. The portion of costs covered varies among policies. To find out exactly what your options are for substance abuse treatment, please reach out to us at Northbound.

How Policies Work for Treatment Centers

As mentioned, you can search for treatment centers and providers within your network on EHN’s online portal. The user-friendly search function was designed to help members find the care they need quickly. To help control costs, you’ll have the best coverage with facilities in your area. However, since some individuals don’t live near treatment centers, many opt to attend programs in another state. Northbound also offers telehealth treatment programs to support clients who may not be able to attend our facilities in person.

Employers Health Network partners with a long list of providers, including Northbound Treatment, to provide members with plenty of care options. The specific types of care, the length of stay, and the number of sessions covered depend on your individual health plan.

That being said, if your policy only covers a particular length of stay at a treatment facility, it doesn’t mean you can’t stay longer if you need more care. However, any portion of treatment that’s not covered by your insurance will be paid for out-of-pocket. Regardless of what your MultiPlan policy covers, Northbound Treatment strongly suggests you choose a program that suits your unique needs.

Does It Need to Be In-Network?

The Employers Health Network model is designed to provide affordable medical benefits that don’t sacrifice quality. EHN boasts full transparency with multiple networks of vetted providers to offer the best care at a great rate. In order to keep prices low for employers and members, networks are based on geographical location and mostly include providers within a particular region.

That being said, EHN will sometimes make network arrangements to help members who seek care outside their region. As we touched on above, treatment centers aren’t always close to home. If you’re ready to start rehab but can’t find a facility in your area, reach out to a representative from Employers Health Network or contact us at Northbound.

About EHN Coverage for Detoxification

If you or someone close to you is chemically dependent on drugs or alcohol, detox is a medically necessary part of recovery — and it’s the first step to sobriety. At Northbound, we strongly recommend that clients go through detox under the clinical supervision of a treatment facility. Although many individuals are tempted to detox at home, withdrawal symptoms can be overwhelming and potentially dangerous without prompt medical care. Additionally, as physical and mental withdrawal symptoms reach a peak at home, it can lead to relapse, as using again would offer short-term relief.

While the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 requires insurance companies to cover substance abuse treatment, some don’t cover detox. If your EHN benefits include inpatient detox, you might only be covered for a certain number of days. Also, it’s possible you’ll have to meet your deductible before coverage kicks in, which means your policy will cover a portion of detox once you pay a certain amount in out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare. You may want to check with EHN to find out whether you’ve met your deductible for the year or how close you are to reaching it.

Coverage, Costs, & Services for Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient (residential) rehab is an intensive, structured form of addiction treatment that can involve numerous therapy approaches, such as one-on-one psychotherapy sessions, group counseling, and clinical support. For many, inpatient treatment is necessary for achieving and maintaining sobriety.

With Employers Health Network insurance, there’s a good chance your benefits include a form of residential rehabilitation, but coverage is usually limited to a certain number of days at a treatment center. In some instances, you might have to get pre-certification before being admitted to inpatient rehab. This means a doctor will have to recommend the treatment in order for your insurance to cover it. Northbound can help you with the pre-certification process. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you’re not sure how to get approval for rehab.

Coverage for Mental Health Treatment

Millions of Americans suffer from mental health disorders, and it’s particularly common among addicts. Some turn to substance abuse as a method of coping with mental illness, but in other cases, addiction can lead to psychological issues. Insurance companies are forbidden from discriminating on which types of diseases they cover. Essentially, this means that if benefits include other types of medical care, they have to also offer behavioral health coverage.

EHN insurance networks include a broad range of psychotherapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, mental health counselors, clinical social workers, family therapists, substance abuse treatment specialists, and other mental health practitioners. Northbound Treatment is in-network for most insurance policies, including many EHN plans.

Helping You Understand Your Benefits

Trying to understand the details of your health insurance benefits can be time-consuming, confusing, and often frustrating. Substance abuse treatment is an urgent matter, and you shouldn’t delay getting help because you’re uncertain about coverage.

Do you have questions or concerns about what’s covered under your Employers Health Network benefits? Get in touch with Northbound’s team of insurance specialists as soon as possible. We accept EHN and can help you figure out the extent to which drug and alcohol addiction treatment is covered by your policy. Additionally, if you’re not 100% covered, we can determine a payment plan that works for you.
