Laura has previously worked in the mental health field with adolescents, adults and families. Her training included acute, residential and intensive outpatient (IOP) care for substance abuse and dual diagnosis treatment.
Laura incorporates an integrative approach in her work that consists of Mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in order to assist clients in increasing distress tolerance skills and re-framing maladaptive thought patterns that can lead to behavioral change. She is currently pursuing Meditation Specialist I (MSI-BC) certification from the National Meditation Specialist Certification Board. Her stated goals upon being brought aboard to Northbound also included becoming certified in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in order to gain further knowledge on stress-reduction techniques to use in her therapeutic work. Laura strongly believes in the empowerment of human connection and the resiliency of the human spirit. She utilizes yoga, meditation and Taekwondo for mind and body discipline, self-care and spiritual rejuvenation.
